Welcome to our school’s Primary Department!
At BHIS Primary, we believe that strong foundations lead to confident, capable, and compassionate learners. Our philosophy is rooted in academic rigor, holistic development, and the belief that every child can achieve excellence within a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Our curriculum is aligned with the California Common Core Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics and is supported by the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Through this framework, students develop deep conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and the ability to apply knowledge meaningfully. In English Language Arts, emphasis is placed on reading comprehension, analytical thinking, structured writing, and effective communication. In Mathematics, students build fluency, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills grounded in conceptual understanding. Science instruction promotes inquiry, investigation, and evidence based reasoning, encouraging students to think and act like young scientists.
Learning in the Primary Department extends beyond core academics. Students participate in Art, Music, ICT, and Physical Education, ensuring the development of creativity, digital literacy, collaboration, and physical well-being. These subjects are integrated thoughtfully to enrich the academic program and provide balanced growth across intellectual, emotional, and physical domains.
In alignment with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education requirements, students study Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Qatar History, fostering cultural awareness, national identity, and respect for Qatar’s heritage and values.
Our teaching approach places students at the center of the learning process. Through inquiry based instruction and purposeful engagement, learners are encouraged to ask thoughtful questions, explore ideas, and make meaningful connections between classroom learning and real world contexts. We cultivate resilience, responsibility, empathy, and independence, recognizing that social and emotional development is essential to academic success.
